AR 670-1: 9-1. Authorization for wear

Combat vehicle crewman uniforms are authorized for year-round wear by combat vehicle crewmen, when issued in accordance with CTA 50–900 and prescribed by the commander. See DA Pam 670–1 for uniforms currently classified as combat vehicle crewman uniforms.

The combat vehicle crewman uniform is worn on duty when prescribed by the commander for combat vehicle operations and may be worn off-post. It is not authorized in establishments primarily selling alcohol, not appropriate for off-installation social functions, and not appropriate for parades, reviews, or ceremonies.

The Combat Vehicle Crewman (CVC) uniform in OCP is a daily work, utility, and field uniform for CVC. The Fire Resistant Environmental Ensemble (FREE) is designed to be worn with the duty uniform to provide aviators and CVC with modular, flame-resistant protection.

The CVC uniform consists of a one-piece coverall with front zippered closure, drop seat, and extraction strap, plus a cold weather jacket with flame-resistant quilted lining. Also includes tan 499 or foliage green undershirt, undergarments, tan/green/black cushion sole socks, coyote leather combat boots, headgear, and vest.
